Hi! Welcome to my portfolio.
I live in Portland, OR and struggle to pull myself away from my bike, cooking for loved ones, reading book descriptions at Powells, or heading to the sauna any chance I get. With multidisciplinary studies in both Product Design and Sustainable Business, I love exploring how design can intertwine with natural, quality materials as well as a creating a circular, and closed, production system.
Lighting feels like one of the least restricted parts of furniture design. It can be purely functional, or it can become something more expressive and sculptural—and my work tends to live in the middle of those two worlds. I think of light less as furniture and more as a form of sculpture, giving each piece its own sense of character and story.
Movement and behavior are central to what I create. I’m fascinated by how things work, move, and balance, and I like highlighting those functions motion, aesthetics, and physical interaction.
I’ve always felt that when people can see and understand how something functions, they connect with it more intentionally and engage with it in a more meaningful way.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work.,
Tanner.
